Intellegy was founded in 2009 near Charlotte, North Carolina. I had completed leading the successful turnaround of a robotic vehicle company and was left with the choice of moving on to help build and grow another company or go my own way. While there were several interesting opportunities, I decided that this “third stage of my career” needed to be about my personal purpose.
I started my career working at Caterpillar and had the chance to learn so much about operations, management, technology, and leadership. It was a tremendous foundation of business skills that made it possible for me to go on to lead three companies in executive and CEO roles, and to work in over 30 countries around the world.
Those were great companies and we had great successes. But, Intellegy is about more than just business success. My personal purpose is “to enrich the lives of others.” When I thought about what I could do in the business world that would touch and improve the lives of others, it became obvious to me what I wanted to do.
I know what it feels like to work for an ineffective leader and have seen the resulting effect on the organization. How soul-crushing it can be to not feel appreciated; to be scared that the company might not make it; or to work blindly with no idea where the company is headed or how the work I do is important to getting there. I also know how it feels to be the leader and the struggle it can be to figure out the right course of action (there are many dark days during a turnaround – especially if you have your own money at risk). The isolation, pressure, and stress take a heavy toll.
I realized that our mission is to develop and grow the leaders of today and tomorrow. To drive business growth, enhance employee engagement, and improve the lives of everyone in the organization. The work we do is mostly focused on the leader and the executive team, but there truly is a trickle-down effect on the whole company. Great leaders build great companies and employ great workers.
We live our four core values every day
Integrity – we keep our promises.
Trust – we maintain confidentiality in everything we do.
Authenticity – we are open and honest in our interactions.
Passion – our success is defined by the success of our clients.
These are the foundation of how we act and how we treat our clients. Our goal is to provide great value to our clients. In fact, we guarantee it. We never want our clients to pay more than what our services are worth.
We are proud of the success our clients have achieved and of the role we have played in helping them get there. Thousands of employees are the beneficiaries of better leadership, clearer strategy, improved communication, financial stability, and a greater sense of wellbeing. And that is what we are all about.
